Rehab for PAD Patients
Sarasota Memorial also offers a specialized rehabilitation program for patients managing peripheral artery disease (PAD), a circulatory condition in which narrowed blood vessels reduce blood flow to the arms and legs. Certified Exercise Physiologists prescribe customized exercise plans for each patient and provide disease-management education. Patients participate in the Physiologist-supervised walking therapy two to three times each week over 12 weeks, up to 36 sessions.
Certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Sarasota Memorial’s PAD Rehab is offered at two convenient locations: the Health Care Center at Clark Road and the Health Care Center at North Port. It has been shown to reduce patients’ leg cramps, maximize endurance and enable them to walk further, without pain.
Physician-prescribed exercise is covered by many insurance plans, Medicare and Medicare replacements. For more information, call 941-917-6139 (Sarasota) or 941-257-2850 (North Port).
