SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming 2 new family practice physicians to its First Physicians Group (FPG) network and the Suncoast community this month.

Jessica Perez-Cardwell, MD, joins FPG from Chicago, Ill., where she served as a primary care physician for 2 years at Union Medical Center. A family medicine specialist with expertise in women’s health, Dr. Perez-Cardwell offers everything from newborn to geriatric care, including treating chronic conditions — such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD and asthma — and helping patients maintain health through regular physicals and routine checkups, as well as pap smears, pelvic exams and IUDs.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Dr. Perez-Cardwell received her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Health Sciences in St. Kitts and Nevis in 2013, and completed her Family Medicine residency at Presence Health, Chicago, in 2018. She joins the FPG Family Practice office at the Sarasota Memorial Health Care Center and ER at North Port, seeing patients alongside Dr. Dennis Charette. For information or appointments, call 941-257-2930.

A graduate of Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Bradenton, Fla., Rebecca Workman, DO, received her medical degree in 2011, and completed her internship and residency at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton in 2014. She has served as a physician for 6 years, most recently with DeKalb Clinic West in Fyffe, Ala.

As a family medicine specialist, Dr. Workman sees adult patients for a wide variety of healthcare needs at the FPG Family Practice and Internal Medicine office in Waldemere Medical Plaza in Sarasota. Her scope of care includes treating chronic conditions such as asthma and diabetes; providing patients with regular check-ups like yearly physicals and immunizations as well as assisting with lifestyle changes like smoking cessation and weight loss. For information or appointments, call 941-917-3500.
