SMH Among World’s ‘Most Wired’ Hospitals

SMH Among World’s ‘Most Wired’ Hospitals

Wednesday, October 4, 2023

SARASOTA (Oct. 4, 2023) – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System (SMH) passed its 2023 digital health check-up with flying colors, once again earning a spot among the world’s “Most Wired” hospitals.

The health system was spotlighted this week by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) in its global list of “Most Wired” hospitals for 2023. One of the most extensive digital health benchmarking programs in the world, CHIME recognizing hospitals with digital health systems that promote safer care and more secure hospital systems.

According to CHIME, SMH ranks in its highest Level 9/10 category, recognizing leaders in healthcare technology who actively push the industry forward, leveraging new and emerging technologies in innovative ways. “As a result, they are realizing meaningful outcomes, including improved quality of care, improved patient experience, reduced costs, and broader patient access to healthcare services,” the organization noted in its 2023 report released Tuesday.

Some of the advanced technologies SMH uses to enhance outcomes include telehealth solutions, price-transparency and cost-analysis tools, access to data at the point of care, and tools to engage patients and their families throughout the care process.

“Sarasota Memorial is pleased to be recognized among the industry’s digital health leaders,” said SMH Chief Information Officer Pam Ramhofer. “This award is a reflection of the commitment of our information technology teams to advancing innovative technology that improves patient connectivity and care.”

The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program represents a comprehensive digital health checkup for over 38,000 facilities from 10 countries. In 2023, SMH was one of eight Florida hospitals recognized in the Level 9/10 status, and the only hospital from the Suncoast that was recognized on this year’s list.
