New Endocrinologist Joins SMH’s First Physicians Group Network

SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System welcomed a new endocrinologist to its First Physicians Group specialists team dedicated to endocrine health this week.

Sonia Sharma, MS, MD, joins FPG Endocrinology with expertise in treating adrenal gland disorders, pituitary dysfunction, thyroid disease, osteoporosis and diabetes with the latest monitoring technology. Board-certified in Internal Medicine and board-eligible in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Dr. Sharma earned her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, Philadelphia, Penn., in 2012, before completing an internship in General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, Penn., in 2013. She then went to the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center Shreveport, where she completed an Internal Medicine and Pediatric residency in 2018 and a fellowship with the Center’s Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2020.
