U.S. News Names SMH Among Nation’s Highest Performers, 'Best Hospitals' in South Florida

Sarasota Memorial Hospital was one of only 48 hospitals nationwide to earn the top “high performing” ratings in all inpatient procedures and conditions evaluated in U.S. News' 2017-18 “Best Hospitals” report. 
The health system also was recognized among the nation’s highest performers (top 10 percent) in the adult specialty Gastroenterology and GI Surgery. This year’s ratings again earned SMH a spot on the “Best Hospitals” list for South Florida.

Sarasota Memorial has earned the national NICHE designation for its commitment to excellence in the care of older adults. NICHE, which stands for Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders, is the premier national geriatric nursing program to address the needs of hospitalized older adults (65 and older).

SMH Deploys New Wayfinding App and Geomagnetic Indoor Positioning System

Today, Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, in conjunction with technology innovators LogicJunction and IndoorAtlas, became the first hospital in the United States to deploy an indoor wayfinding app that uses geomagnetic positioning technology. The SMH Wayfinder indoor navigation app is the latest in a series of innovations Sarasota Memorial has implemented to help patients and visitors more easily access and navigate its network of services and facilities.

Corcoran Quads Make their Debut at SMH

 

The Corcoran quadruplets, three boys and a girl, were safely delivered by caesarian section at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on March 28. Each weighing between 2 and just over 3 pounds, the babies were born moments apart, between 7:59 and 8:01 a.m. Born with 40 perfect fingers and toes to parents Amanda and Kyle, the quads are thriving in Sarasota Memorial’s Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
