Sarasota Memorial Hospital has earned a spot among the nation’s Top 20 Watchman programs for the treatment of atrial fibrillation (A-Fib). SMH is 1 of only 2 hospitals in the state of Florida to reach this milestone, with more than 500 procedures performed to date.

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System partnered with the Sarasota Department of Health to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to nearly 3,000 community members age 65 and older during a 2-day, appointment-only event held in the hospital auditorium on Jan. 9 and 10.

SMH to Host Special Vaccination Event for People 65 & Older this Weekend

With the COVID-19 vaccine in very short supply locally, Sarasota Memorial Hospital is partnering with the Florida Department of Health (DOH) in Sarasota to administer thousands of COVID-19 vaccinations to community members age 65 and older at a special immunization event taking place this weekend at SMH. The vaccination event at SMH is by appointment only.

SMH Welcomes the First Baby of 2021

Sarasota Memorial celebrated the start of a new year, welcoming the first baby of 2021 at 1:39 a.m. on Jan. 1. Born to new parents Jordan Sawmiller and Quay Mays from Bradenton, Fla., New Year Baby Messiah Mays entered the world at 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
