U.S. News’ Ranks Sarasota Memorial Among Nation’s 50 Best Hospitals for Specialty Services

SMH-Sarasota ranked in the nation’s 50 best hospitals for two specialties -- rehabilitation and obstetrics/gynecology care -- and among the nation’s top 10% for 18 other “high performing” specialties and specific procedures and conditions. Hospitals that perform exceptionally well also earn state and regional rankings from U.S. News. This year, SMH tied for the #5 spot in Florida, up from #6 last year, and maintained its longstanding record as the #1 hospital in the Bradenton-Sarasota-North Port region.

Sarasota Memorial Achieves 5-Star Rating from CMS for 8th Year Running

SMH has set a benchmark for Florida, as the only hospital in the state to earn a continuous 5-star designation from CMS since the federal government began the rating program in 2016.

SMH Earns Magnet Status for Fifth Time, Recognizing 20 Years of Nursing Excellence

Only 10 percent of the more than 6,000 hospitals in the U.S. have achieved Magnet Recognition at least one time, but fewer than 1 percent have received the recognition 5 times or more. During an official notification call this morning, Commission on Magnet Recognition Chair Dr. Sharon Pappas announced Sarasota Memorial Hospital-Sarasota is part of that elite group, praising SMH as a "national and international role model.”

SMH Joins International Study of Novel Heart Failure Treatment

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System has joined a global study of an investigational cardiac implant bringing a new treatment option and hope to people living with life-threatening symptoms of heart failure. Led by Hakim Morsli, MD, medical director of cardiac rehab at Sarasota Memorial, the study is open to qualifying patients whose symptoms cannot be controlled by current therapies
