With Health & Wellness Coach Lauren Pullman, MS
The holidays are over. Now, it’s time to refocus and prioritize your health in the new year.
Here’s a helpful guide to navigating your New Year’s Resolution.
REFOCUS – Pick the Right New Year’s Resolution For You
What’s your New Year's resolution? Start by determining your WHY.
WHY are you setting a personal goal – for you, your family, pressure from others to change? If you truly understand why you want or need to achieve this goal, you will be better able to focus your energy on the things you need to do to accomplish it. Your why is your motivation.
And in determining your why, you may find that your real goal is something else entirely. Maybe something you didn’t expect.
One Resolution Is Enough
Big or small, change can be difficult to cultivate on our own, and a new goal requires consistent attention. Our minds need to be focused on one thing, not ten, so pick one achievable goal.
RESOLVE – Building Good Habits Takes Time; Be Patient With Yourself
You may revert back to an old habit from time to time. What do you do when you’ve fallen back into old patterns? First, stop — take a deep breath — and then…follow these five steps.
- Give yourself grace. Don’t get upset and blame yourself that things didn’t go as planned; it takes time to build a new habit.
- Keep moving forward. Don’t wait until tomorrow to start; implement your new changes immediately.
- Spend a few minutes focusing on your “why” and all the reasons this change is important to you, and take action.
- Start with small, bite-sized steps. Accomplishing even a tiny goal can reinforce the positive behavior and boost you to the next step.
- Whatever you do, DON’T GIVE UP on your goals and dreams.

RENEW Alumni In Their Own Words
“My A1c has gone down. My doctor took me off all my cholesterol medicine and cut my diabetes medicine in half.” – Kevin W.
“I've tried tracking carbs and counting calories and the changes never stuck until now. It's everything—mindfulness, changing how I think about food, my sleep habits, exercise, the power of positivity, etc. I've learned I can change the outcome of my day by a matter of perspective. This is my lifestyle now. I’d recommend RENEW to everyone." – Lora P.
“I struggled for 10 years to find a sustainable wellness lifestyle. This was compounded by an exceptionally busy work schedule and demanding family commitments. I now understand and appreciate the value of good nutrition and appropriate portion control.” – Peter T.
Linda embarked on a transformative journey with RENEW, alongside her husband, and together they lost 30 pounds. Her GI system is the best it's ever been and she loves the food and recipes.
