SMH Breaks Ground on New Hospital in Venice

Sarasota Memorial marked an important milestone this week, breaking ground on its new hospital and 65-acre medical campus in Venice. City officials, community leaders, the elected hospital board, SMH staff, area residents and the new hospital’s design/build team were on hand to celebrate the most significant expansion in the health system’s 94-year history.

Sarasota Memorial is bringing its 5-Star, affordable care closer to South County residents with a new state-of-the-art hospital planned for its 65-acre campus on Laurel and Pinebrook roads in Venice, Fla. The new, acute-care hospital is expected to open in Fall 2021.
