SARASOTA, Fla. – Sarasota Memorial Health Care System is welcoming a new gastroenterologist to its expanding First Physicians Group (FPG) team of specialists dedicated to gastrointestinal health.
Nihar Shah, MD, FACP, FACG, FASGE, joins the FPG Gastroenterology practice at its new location in the Sarasota Memorial Health Care Center at Hillview. Prior to coming to Sarasota, Dr. Shah worked in a private practice in St. Petersburg, Fla., for 2 years and as an assistant professor at Marshall University in Huntington, WV, since 2015.
Triple board-certified in Gastroenterology, Internal Medicine and Obesity Medicine, Dr. Shah brings extensive expertise and experience in the endoscopic treatment of acid reflux, utilizing a wide range of advanced therapeutic interventions, including transoral incisionless fundoplication, Stretta procedures, balloon enteroscopy, radiofrequency ablation and endoscopic suturing. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented at national and international conferences. Dr. Shah earned his medical degree from Gujurat University in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, in 2007. He went on to complete both his residency and fellowship at Seton Hall University Saint Michael’s Medical Center in Newark, NJ. Dr. Shah is fluent in English, Hindi and Gujarati.
