Verinder comes to the hospital from Scott & White Memorial Hospital and Clinic, a 653-bed institution in Temple, Texas, where he has served as chief financial officer since 2003. |

Treatment for Barrett's Esophagus Now Available in Sarasota - Sarasota
Memorial Health Care System first in region to offer new tool for treating
precancerous condition of the esophagus caused by chronic heartburn.
Sarasota Memorial Health Care System today announced the availability of the
HALO360 system to treat Barrett’s esophagus. Barrett’s esophagus affects
approximately 3.3 million U.S. adults. However, studies suggest this number may
be low. Barrett’s esophagus occurs when chronic acid exposure causes the
protective cells lining the esophagus to break down and undergo genetic changes

Sarasota Memorial Hospital Opens Walk-In Center Staffed By Hospital's #1
Ranked ER Doctors
Located in the US 301/University Parkway area, the center is designed to provide
urgent medical care for people in the northern reaches of the county.
Walk-In Medical Center Grand Opening Celebration
The public is invited to a special grand opening celebration 10 a.m.-noon
Saturday, Jan. 28, at the center, 2401 University Parkway. The event features a
teddy bear clinic (children can bring their favorite doll or stuffed toy for a
check-up), clowns, entertainment, refreshments, body type analyses and blood
pressure screenings, a drawing for a free i-Pod and other give-aways. For

$20,000 Grant Awarded to Aid HIV Infected Women
On September 28, 2005 the board of trustees of Sarasota Memorial Healthcare
Foundation, Inc. approved a $20,000 grant to Sarasota’s Community AIDS Network,
Inc. This grant will assist in delivering gynecological evaluations for HIV
infected women, allowing the organization to teach, evaluate, diagnose and treat
