SARASOTA, FL – (April 27, 2012) – The Sarasota County Fire Department’s Special Operations Team, Sarasota Memorial Hospital (SMH) and Sarasota Police Department will conduct a training drill to test the organizations’ response to a simulated bomb threat and explosion on Friday, April 27, at Sarasota Memorial, 1700 S. Tamiami Trail. News media interested in covering the event should plan to meet at 9 a.m. at SMH’s South Parking Garage, located just south of the hospital on the corner of Hillview Street and U.S. 41.
The hospital, police and fire departments have teamed up for other training drills in the past. This event will present a unique opportunity for the organizations to test and evaluate their disaster response plans, including the evacuation and treatment of multiple victims.
Interviews and photo opportunities will be available during the drill. Best photo opportunities will be during the first hour of the drill.
