Pain Care Center
Sarasota Memorial's Pain Care Program offers a team of experts to provide interdisciplinary comprehensive pain management. Our pain care team works with each patient to develop an individualized treatment plan that allows for increased function ability and quality of life. The team is comprised of board-certified pain medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, registered & licensed practical nurses, clinical nurse researcher, and radiology technicians. We offer a wide range of services, from conservative medication management to advanced interventional procedures. We implement evidence-based pain medicine practices to provide the patient with the highest standard of care and are involved in clinical research initiatives to further the science of pain management.

Convenient lab testing is available at Blackburn Point on the first floor. Blood draws (phlebotomy) are available on a walk-in basis. You must have a valid order from your physician. To verify coverage, please call your insurance provider.

Diabetes Treatment Services
The Blackburn Point site offers the education expertise of certified diabetes professionals. Support, motivation, education and up-to-date medical information provide the tools to help participants make lifestyle changes to maintain optimum blood sugar control and prevent complications. Sarasota Memorial's outpatient diabetes education program is one of only 600 programs in the United States to receive recognition from the American Diabetes Association. Day and evening classes are offered at Blackburn Point, including individual consultation of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, pediatric, gestational diabetes, insulin pump therapy, support groups and nutritional counseling.

Comprehensive Bariatric Program (CBP)
Sarasota Memorial is dedicated to the treatment and prevention of obesity and allied diseases. The Bariatric Program utilizes a multi-disciplinary, compassionate approach to bariatric surgical care, providing your patients with extensive pre and post-operative education including a nutritional assessment/counseling, 6-week comprehensive weight loss program, psychological and pre-fitness assessment, post operative visits and monthly support groups. "Eating Healthy for Life" Weight Loss Program
A comprehensive six-week weight loss program called "Eating Healthy for Life" assists individuals in using the skills to lose weight and keep it off. The program offers a comfortable, supportive environment with information on grocery shopping, restaurant eating, holidays, emotional eating and exercise. Staff will help participants pinpoint individual trigger points and barriers and offer skills to help them overcome obstacles and control their eating. A monthly support group is available as well.
