The Psychological Benefits of Walking
Although the physical benefits of walking are well documented, there also are many positive psychological outcomes. One of the most commonly reported changes seen with regular walking is an improvement in self-efficacy. This means that you feel more confident that you can continue walking regularly even when obstacles surface. This is an important benefit because self-efficacy is one of the most predictive factors in exercise adherence. Improvements in self-confidence and self-esteem as well as reduced incidence of depression also have been shown through walking.

The exercise professionals at Healthplex can answer your health and fitness questions to assist you in meting your goals. You are invited to drop in anytime for a tour to experience the Healthplex difference! Visit www.SarasotaHealthplex.com or call (941) 917-7000 for more information.
